AMMSO Advisory Committee Rejects Alleged Fake Press Release, Appeals for Unity Within Organisation
AMMSO-HQ’s Advisory Committee alleges misuse of its name and circulation of a forged press release, while appealing for unity and protection of the organisation’s credibility.

IMPHAL, November 1, 2026: The Advisory Committee of the All Manipur Muslim Students’ Organisation (AMMSO-HQ) has appealed to its members and the public to maintain unity and protect the organisation’s credibility, alleging that certain individuals have been misusing its name and circulating a forged press release.
In a statement issued on Sunday, AMMSO Publicity and Information Secretary Moinam Zahangir said the organisation had earlier faced differences between two groups associated with Thoubal-based Manoj Khan and Kh. Salullah.
According to the statement, the AMMSO Advisory Committee intervened and brought the two groups together through discussions. It said Kh. Safullah was subsequently recognised as the organisation’s president, a development that was communicated to the public.
The committee alleged that some individuals with no official association with AMMSO had attempted to create another faction using the organisation’s name. It also claimed that a press release had been circulated on a forged letterhead, describing the development as an attempt to damage AMMSO’s integrity and public credibility.
Dispute Referred to Imphal West Police Station
The statement further alleged that on October 31, AMMSO members who had reached out to an individual identified as Umar MK for discussions encountered an unpleasant exchange of words. It claimed that the discussion became heated after the individual allegedly behaved in an unacceptable manner and attempted to use physical force.
Following the incident, members of the AMMSO Advisory Committee, along with the concerned individuals, went to Imphal West Police Station. The statement said both sides subsequently reached an understanding and left the police station.

Appeal Against Social Media Attacks
AMMSO also expressed concern over what it described as personal attacks and defamatory remarks circulating on social media following the incident. The organisation urged people not to damage the reputation of individuals or institutions through unverified allegations and online statements.
The Advisory Committee and well-wishers of AMMSO said they had deliberated on the matter and appealed to individuals allegedly involved in creating divisions to refrain from activities that could undermine the organisation.
Reaffirming its commitment to the interests of the Pangal community and students, AMMSO called upon its members and the wider public to extend cooperation in preserving the organisation’s unity, integrity and credibility.
The statement was issued by Moinam Zahangir, Publicity and Information Secretary of AMMSO, on November 1, 2026.
