COCOMI Thanks Public for Massive Turnout at October 31 Rally, Reaffirms Demand to End ‘Proxy War’
COCOMI thanks citizens and supporting organisations for the October 31 mass rally in Imphal, reiterating its demand for government action to resolve Manipur’s crisis.

IMPHAL, November 1, 2026: The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has expressed gratitude to the people of Manipur for their participation and support in the mass rally held on October 31, demanding an immediate end to the ongoing crisis in the state.
In a press release issued on Sunday and signed by Convenor Phijam Shyamchand, COCOMI said the rally brought together large numbers of participants from both the hills and the valley, reflecting what it described as a united public voice against the ongoing crisis.
The organisation alleged that the Government of India and the state government had failed to take concrete steps to resolve the crisis that began on May 3, 2023. It further claimed that the prolonged situation was a “proxy war” allegedly waged by the Government of India against the indigenous communities of Manipur.
COCOMI said people from both hill and valley areas had recognised the need to raise a united voice against the situation and press the government to take immediate action.
The rally, held on Saturday, October 31, corresponding to the 21st day of Mera, was organised to convey this demand. According to the organisation, participants also unanimously adopted six key resolutions during the public gathering.
COCOMI Expresses Gratitude
COCOMI thanked all citizens who participated in the rally, along with individuals and organisations involved in its arrangements. It also acknowledged the support of transport associations, medical aid providers, those who arranged tents and drinking water, and the authorities who granted permission to use Tiddim Ground and THAU Ground.
The organisation also thanked electronic and print media outlets for covering the rally and conveying its message to the Government of India and the wider public.
The press release reiterated COCOMI’s demand for immediate government intervention to address the crisis and restore peace in Manipur.
