CNPO Rally in Chandel Demands End to Violence, Abrogation of SoO Pact
CNPO organised a mass rally in Chandel, demanding an end to civilian killings, abrogation of the SoO pact and implementation of the September 26 Guwahati agreement.

CHANDEL: The Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO) organised a mass rally in Chandel on Saturday, demanding an immediate end to civilian killings and violence in Manipur, along with the abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with Kuki militant groups.
The rally commenced at Chandel Main Stadium, with participants expressing solidarity with the United Naga Council (UNC) and the mass rally organised by the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) in Imphal.
Protesters raised five major demands, including an immediate end to civilian killings, termination of the SoO agreement, an end to what they described as a “proxy war” allegedly being carried out by the Government of India, and effective implementation of the September 26, 2026, Guwahati agreement.
Speaking to reporters, CNPO president Dilbung Francis Thandil said the prevailing situation in Manipur was unacceptable. He urged the state government to take concrete measures to address the crisis and restore peace.
The rally reflected the organisation’s concerns over the continuing violence and its demand for urgent steps towards restoring normalcy in the state.
