Imphal, October 28: Film Forum Manipur has announced the resumption of film screenings in cinema halls and public venues across Manipur with effect from October 28.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, the forum stated that producers organising film screenings at public venues must submit copies of permission letters obtained from the concerned clubs, Meira Paibis and Arambai Tenggol units for the forum’s information.

The forum has also prohibited film screenings associated with fairs, housie and other gambling activities, citing the prevailing situation in the state. It directed producers to discontinue such screenings by 11 am on Wednesday.

The press release, signed by Film Forum Manipur General Secretary K. Ronelchandra Meitei, urged all producers to comply with the prescribed guidelines.

The forum further called on stakeholders to support the promotion of Manipuri culture and contribute to the growth and development of the state’s film industry.

The announcement marks the resumption of film screenings across the state, subject to the conditions outlined by the forum.
