MPSC Aspirants Seek Rescheduling of Assistant Engineer Exam Over Clash with SSC Test
Candidates request change in November 6–7 schedule and seek examination centre in a neutral location

Imphal, October 28, 2026: Aspirants appearing for the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) Assistant Engineer (Civil and Electrical) recruitment examination have appealed to the Commission to reschedule the examination scheduled for November 6 and 7, citing a clash with the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Junior Engineer examination on November 6.
The candidates submitted a written representation to the Secretary of the MPSC, requesting a change in the examination schedule so that aspirants can appear for both recruitment examinations without sacrificing either opportunity.
One of the candidates, Thiyam Biswanath, said the MPSC Assistant Engineer recruitment examination was being conducted after a gap of nearly 10 years, with the previous examination held in 2016.
He described the recruitment as a significant opportunity for engineering graduates and said the overlapping examination dates had placed candidates in a difficult position, as both examinations offered important career prospects.
Biswanath said the aspirants did not want to miss the opportunity to appear for the national-level SSC Junior Engineer examination. He urged the concerned authorities to consider their difficulties while finalising the MPSC examination schedule.
He further maintained that even if the SSC examination could not be rescheduled, the state authorities could consider adjusting the dates of the MPSC examination to prevent the clash.
Candidates Seek Neutral Examination Centre
Apart from requesting a change in the examination dates, the aspirants have also appealed to the MPSC to allot an examination centre in a neutral location, such as Guwahati, instead of Churachandpur.
The candidates cited concerns regarding the conduct of a previous SSC examination at Churachandpur, alleging that it had not been conducted in a free and fair manner.
They urged the Commission to consider their concerns while deciding the examination centre arrangements.
The aspirants appealed to the MPSC and the concerned authorities to take appropriate steps to ensure that candidates are not deprived of the opportunity to compete in both examinations because of overlapping schedules.
The Commission’s response to the candidates’ requests was not included in the information available at the time of publication.
