Team Meitei Personalities Manipur and the Meitei Alliance Trust have filed a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court over the repeated blockades of Manipur's national highways.

The petition, filed under Article 32, names the Union Home Ministry, the Manipur government and the NHAI as respondents. It asks the court to make sure people and essential goods can travel the highways safely and without interruption.

The groups want central and state security agencies to draw up a coordinated, time-bound plan. It would identify vulnerable stretches, set up rapid-response teams and keep highway access from being restricted on the basis of ethnicity or community.
