Theni jailbreak: 13 of 17 escaped prisoners caught again
The remand prisoners attacked a warder after faking a medical emergency at the Thekkampatti sub-jail.
Police had recaptured 13 of the 17 remand prisoners who escaped from the Thekkampatti sub-jail in Tamil Nadu's Theni district by the evening of October 27. The search for the other four was still on.
The escape happened at about 11 pm on October 26. Inmates called the warder on duty, claiming one of them was having a seizure, then attacked him when he opened the cell and ran.
Police put up check-posts across the district, and the Inspector General of Police for the South Zone visited the jail to look into what happened.
