Israel election too close to call as Netanyahu and Eisenkot both claim victory
Exit polls show the two blocs neck and neck after the highest turnout in decades.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his challenger Gadi Eisenkot both said on October 28 that they would form Israel's next government, after neither won outright in the country's first election since the October 7, 2023 attack.
Voters turned out on October 27 in the highest numbers in decades. Exit polls showed Eisenkot, a former army chief new to politics, and his opposition bloc level with Netanyahu's hard-right camp.
Netanyahu is Israel's longest-serving prime minister, and the vote was widely seen as a verdict on his divisive time in office.
