The club gets 19.99 acres in New Shillong for 45 years and is expected to invest Rs 40–50 crore.
The Meghalaya Cabinet has approved a 45-year lease of 19.99 acres at Mawkhanu in New Shillong to NorthEast United FC for a football academy.
Cabinet Minister Wailadmiki Shylla said the club is expected to invest Rs 40–50 crore in three football grounds, accommodation and other facilities. He said the academy will help young players go from grassroots football to professional training.
The club is owned by actor John Abraham, who is also Meghalaya Tourism's brand ambassador. It had earlier shown interest in moving its management from Guwahati to Shillong.
