Mizoram's new emergency network keeps rescuers connected for 100 hours
The state-wide system keeps the SDRF, police and fire services in touch even during long power cuts.

Mizoram has launched a state-wide emergency communication system that can keep disaster-response agencies connected for up to 100 hours during long power cuts.
Minister PC Vanlalruata launched the Public Safety and Disaster Response Communication System in Aizawl on Tuesday. It is meant to stop communication breaking down between the SDRF, police and fire services in an emergency.
The minister asked officials to hold regular drills and keep the system well maintained, so it is ready when a major disaster hits.
